the ac room is better than the dorm, the ac is actually working. no desk, just a bed with private bathroom.
the location of the hostel is a problem, when it rains, I had a hard time getting a taxi from downtown to the hostel, almost all taxis are full, the few that are free refused to take me to the north. I competed with the girls, the limps, the old, the pregnant, still no luck. I have Gortex boots and I was throughly wet, the water at the sidewalk is as deep as the swamp in the Amazon... The rain in Guayaquil came sudden and harsh, it rained on commons and tourists alike, taxi driver who so desperate for money doesn't want to take me even if I offered twice amount. I waited at the cemetery and try to wave down a taxi there, and thought it wasn't too wise. I finally walked to the highway entrance before luck shine on me, I found a taxi who would take me home for only 4 dollars, I gave him 5 dollars... I returned to the hostel.... the only positive thing was I didn't need to do the laundry

The trick of taking bus is, going to some place near you, write down the number of all buses that pass that area. When you need a ride from anywhere back to the hotel, just hop on the buses with those numbers... as long as it's in the right direction.
just luck would have it, I stumbled upon a veggie restaurant in Guayaquil, I may not have ordered the best meal, but well... it is sort of strange I would stumble upon such restaurant by chance.
I should have ordered the lunch but I ordered a lovely fruit salad and toast instead...
A silly mistake, but the fruit salad was the best fruit salad I had in Ecuador.
The price was US$4.5
